BeerVoice is in beta, which means there’s gonna be lots of room for improvement in the near-future. But its hard to know where you’re going until you know where you’ve been. So here are the current features:
- Beer, Breweries, and Types: All the information is pre-populated. There’s a lot here, but there’s a lot that isn’t as well. You can view beer by type, beer by brewery, reviews by type, reviews by brewery, and reviews by beer, and of course, the latest reviews on the homepage
- Profile: See your reviews, your saved beer, the people you follow and the people following you. All this information can be viewed without being logged in.
- Reviews: Try a beer, you review it. Choose a smiley face that embodies your feelings. Simple.
- Saves: Maybe you want to drink/review it at a later time. Maybe you want to keep track of high-abv beers. Save or unsave beer.
- Comments: Leave a comment on a user’s review. The owner of the review or the poster of the comment can delete said comment.
- Followers / Following: Filter through the homepage clutter and see just what specific users are reviewing. Follow your friends, have your friends follow you. Get an e-mail when someone follows you.
- Settings: Full Name, Location, Bio, and Gravatar e-mail for your photo.
- Search: Searches look for beer name, brewery, or type
- Featured beer: Randomly chosen by me and scrolled on the homepage. New beers each month.
- JQuery / AJAX: Javascript to make simple actions like following a user, saving a beer or posting a review/comment occur without page reloading. Its the way of the future!
So that’s it for the beta-launch features!
